Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles continued the bold jewelry trends we saw at the Primetime Emmy Awards – statement earrings paired well with right hand rings and stacked bangle bracelets. Dark metals such as black rhodium and blackened platinum encrusted in black diamonds were a prominent theme in jewelry. Some of our favorite on-trend fashionistas who rocked the event sported fresh and edgy blackened metal earrings with bracelets or right hand rings encrusted in yellow diamonds, black diamonds, smokey topaz or blue hued stones.
MTV reality series The Hills stars Audrina Patridge, Lo Bosworth and Stephanie Pratt all glittered on the VMAs white carpet. Patridge accessorized a shimmering silver dress with stacked diamond bracelets and diamond bangles on both wrists and Bosworth glammed up her California luxe look with a pair of diamond and yellow gold dangle earrings. Going for understated elegance, Stephanie Pratt wore a pair diamond studs, bangles and stackable rings by none other than Le Vian. Singer Taylor swift (who was on the receiving end of Kanye West’s antics at last year’s event) followed suit with fine pair of Le Vian earrings.
Although the New York Times described Chelsea Handler as being one of the “worst hosts in the show’s history”, the comedian did not disappoint in the fashion and accessories department. The jewelry pieces she wore throughout the event consisted of a black diamond and platinum cuff bracelet with a set of platinum diamond white and black dangle earrings, and a white, black and yellow diamond right hand ring.
She also wore diamond, gold and coral bracelets and bangles. Katy Perry and Twilight actress Ashley Greene also rocked in black. Perry paired her eyebrow-raising ensemble with a black diamond and blackened sterling silver right hand ring encrusted with black pave diamonds and a set of rose cut diamond earrings. Meanwhile, Greene adorned herself in an exquisite set of platinum black diamond earrings and a platinum black diamond and black sapphire bracelet.
Another highlight at the event was Selena Gomez who stood out in cool blue hues wearing short drop crystal earrings and a matching bold right hand ring. Sofia Vergara whom we loved at the Emmy’s also shimmered at the VMAs in a blackened diamond platinum cuff bracelet and diamond platinum earrings, both featuring white and black stones, paired with a platinum diamond ring all totaling over 500 carats.

Wearing an exotic cheetah print body suit by Dolce & Gabanna, the diva extraordinaire is featured in a variety of enticing diamond earrings, rings, pendants and necklaces by some of the jewelry industry’s most innovative designers. The earthy fashion and accessory tones seen in the shots reflect Fall 2010’s trend forecast. We especially love that Le Vian Chocolate Diamond® Ball & Chain Bracelet she’s wearing as she holds an over-sized Queen of Diamonds card as well those Christian Louboutin shoes in the far right shot below!

Jenny from the block is hard at work with a new album titled “Love?” due to release later this year. A number of singles for the album have already been released, including: “Louboutins” and a video for her song “Fresh out the oven (featuring Pitbull)” directed by Jonas Akerlund. Both tracks have been successful peaking at number one on Billboard’s “Hot Dance Club Songs Chart.”
Twilight star Nikki Reed talks in this video about why she loves Simon G Jewelry at the recent Summer Soiree in Las Vegas. A big fan of Simon G for a long time, her favorite pieces in her personal collection are 3 sparkling diamond bracelets worn as a set in rose gold, yellow gold and silver and we can see why! “I love Simon G’s jewelry because it’s delicate, classy, simple and I think he uses a wonderful combination of different metals and beautiful different color diamonds” says the star.
The stars were shining brightly yesterday for the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Designer jewelry fashion at the event was a healthy mix of surprisingly bold over-the-top pieces and minimal if any jewelry at all. Platinum rocked the evening as it was the number 1 metal of choice for stars shimmering in statement accessories. Some of the trends we saw were bold statement earrings used to either match glamorous gowns or add a dash of strong color for contrast. Statement cuff bracelets and right hand diamond rings provided the perfect finishing touches creating an unforgettable look. Not for the faint of heart; diamond, platinum and gold necklaces at this year’s Emmys were probably the most surprising statement accessories.
Here are our favorite jewelry highlights of the evening:
Eva Longoria accented her strapless flowing black gown with a dramatic pair of ruby chandelier earrings.
These stunning emerald cut Chrysoprase white gold earrings surrounded by rose cut and pave diamonds were custom made for Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Singer and songwriter Jewel’s pink stone and diamond dangle earrings complimented her lace gown wonderfully.
Columbian beauty Sofia Vergara looked like a golden Emmy herself shimmering in a strapless Carolina Herrera gown with matching bold statement dangle earrings.
Lea Michele arguably wore the most contradicting pieces of the evening. Her navy ruffled Oscar De La Rente gown was considered the biggest flop at the event by some, but her platinum mesh necklace featuring 300 carats of multi-colored diamonds was a sure win.
Stunning Project Runway host Heidi Klum, known for having an affinity for bold jewelry pieces, graced the red carpet in a dramatic diamond and ruby necklace worth $3 million.
Julie Benz glammed up her simple ensamble with a sparkling platinum diamond bib necklace.
Kimberly Kardashian looked absolutely gorgeous in an Egyptian-inspired Grecian goddess of a Marchesa gown and 80 carat cuff bangle featuring white and champagne diamonds. Her ensamble was arguably the biggest win of the evening.
Sofia Vergara grabs a second category of ours in best jewelry with this marvelous gold cuff bangle complimenting her matching gown and earrings.
Kyra Sedgwick paired a number of platinum bracelets with multi-colored gemstones on one hand and this marvelous platinum rubellite ring weighing 60 carats on the other.

Oprah Winfrey is wearing dark chocolate diamond earrings designed by Le Vian on September 2010’s cover of “O The Oprah Magazine” currently available on news stands. Oprah looks gorgeous and those earrings compliment her outfit’s warm autumn tones wonderfully. The issue is aptly titled: “The Makeover Issue: Transform Your Look, Luck, Life – 178 Inspiring Ways to Change Things Up”. Statement pieces are still very much in style and what better way to welcome the approaching fall season than with a dangling and sparkling new accessory?
On September 13th, 2010 the media mogul will be launching The Farewell Season to “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on ABC marking an end of a 24 year old program that’s touched the hearts and lives of countless people around the world. While she will be greatly missed, audiences can expect to hear more from her when she starts a new television channel called the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
American Beauty star Mena Sulvari and music producer Simone Sesito finally tied the knot on Saturday in Italy. In a “very romantic and traditional Italian wedding”, the ceremony took place in a private church in Vatican City with a few hundred guests. They chose this location because Simone’s family is from Rome.
Having met at the 2007 Toronto Film Festival, Sesito got down on his knee and proposed about a year later with a sparkling diamond engagement ring. “It was very romantic” said Suvari. “I love him. It’s all about family and culture. I love his family and it just inspires me.” she added.
This is the second marriage for Sulvari, who wed cinematographer Robert Brinkman in 2000 before breaking up in 2005.
