Designer Jewelry Trends at Emmys 2010

The stars were shining brightly yesterday for the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Designer jewelry fashion at the event was a healthy mix of surprisingly bold over-the-top pieces and minimal if any jewelry at all. Platinum rocked the evening as it was the number 1 metal of choice for stars shimmering in statement accessories. Some of the trends we saw were bold statement earrings used to either match glamorous gowns or add a dash of strong color for contrast. Statement cuff bracelets and right hand diamond rings provided the perfect finishing touches creating an unforgettable look. Not for the faint of heart; diamond, platinum and gold necklaces at this year’s Emmys were probably the most surprising statement accessories.

Here are our favorite jewelry highlights of the evening:

Eva Longoria accented her strapless flowing black gown with a dramatic pair of ruby chandelier earrings.

Lea Michele arguably wore the most contradicting pieces of the evening. Her navy ruffled Oscar De La Rente gown was considered the biggest flop at the event by some, but her platinum mesh necklace featuring 300 carats of multi-colored diamonds was a sure win.

Statement pieces are still very much in style and what better way to welcome the approaching fall season than with a dangling and sparkling new accessory?

On September 13th, 2010 the media mogul will be launching The Farewell Season to “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on ABC marking an end of a 24 year old program that’s touched the hearts and lives of countless people around the world. While she will be greatly missed, audiences can expect to hear more from her when she starts a new television channel called the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
